Random talk about the blizzard of 1888

I’m not sure why I picked this natural disaster. Your probably thinking why out of
all the big blizzards, earthquakes, tornados, why did I picked a silly old blizzard in
the states? It was the one that stood out to me. I heard about Katrina, The
earthquake in Japan and many more but The Blizzard of 1888 just kept ringing in
my ear, the one that was interesting, something I wanted to know way more
about.
The blizzard didn’t only hit New York. It hit New Jersey, Connecticut,
Massachusetts and also Canada. Snow fall reached up to 30- 50 inches! Wind
reached up to 40 mph. Poor families would try to find any warm place to stay such
as steam grates and coal cellars, Or if they had a little bit of money they could
have paid 3 cents for a warm spot in a store for the night. Around 400 people lost
their lives in this blizzard (In New York 200 people were killed).
I created a 6 year old white short poor boy who lives in Manhattan in 1888, Who
has recently discovered he has a wealthy family in Brooklyn. Getting their for the
boy is not so easy. Although Charlie is a made up character he faces real problems
that happened in the Blizzard of 1888.
The story that I created was as interesting as researching about the Great
Blizzard. No matter how Big or small well known or unknown their still a disaster
that scared many people for life, And can be very interesting to others.

This boy’s life by Tobias Wolff. The main idea is a boy in the 1950s who

wants to break free from his constantly changing life and family, His

mother is divorced. I think the story is worth telling because of the

adventures, the ideas, and the conflict maker his mean green step father

“Dwight”. Toby’s mother sends toby to live with Dwight and his family in

Chinook this is were his life starts to get interesting. Toby and his mother

realizes that Dwight is a horrible man Toby wants to leave this man, keep

him away from his family. “My idea was to steal enough to run away I was ready

to do anything to clear of Dwight.” I think that’s the biggest idea in this

book. The idea becomes a decision the decision becomes an action.

I think that’s a  brave decision for him to plan. But I don’t blame him

Dwight makes him work hard and theirs nothing his mother can do about it.

I think I would also steal from Dwight some of it is Toby’s money anyways, I

would  try to help my mother get away from this man and make her start a

new life.

I believe this book is about change. The changing of families, friends, and

Home. Toby never had one father his parents were divorced and his mother

Was constantly looking for another husband. He never had One Home his

mother was constantly wanting to move away from one place to another. This

is why I think  the book is worth telling.

Reading response

The book Island of the blue dolphins by Scott o’ Dell is a historical fiction book about a Native American girl who has been left on an island alone waiting for someone to come and save her. What details in the book are real and researched by the author? What details did the author make up and imagine? How can you tell? This book is based on a true story so their has to be many parts that are the true story that the author researched and some parts he had to make up, like the dialogue.
For an example one part in the book when the main character screams dog constantly. I know that the author had to make that up because the main character was alone how would anyone witness what the main character said ? So the main character probably put that in to support a part in the book.
On page 41 the main character cries “Where is my brother?” I know the author made this up for the book because this book was taken place in the 1850s. How would Scott o’ dell know how the main character spoke exactly. Also even if he had know how Native Americans spoke in the 1850s spoke he would really know how the main character spoke. Cause she can speak differently then the other Natives.
Lastly I know that the author made the dialogue because where would he get the information from? If he got it from a person who had a relative that was on the island how would they remember what they would say. Unless people who were there had what their acquaintances
Wrote down what others had said. Which I doubt happened because they wouldn’t know that what they were saying right that moment was going to be history or in a book.
Therefore the author made up the dialogue because 1. It wouldn’t be accurate. 2. It would be hard to get information about what the characters say. And 3. How the character talked

The Last Blog Post About Hunger Games

So my class and I watched the Hunger Games Tuesday and I thought it was AMAZING. The story line, the actors, the drama, the action Everything. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that everyone was talking through the whole movie. The thing that made me feel for the movie was putting my self in the situations that the characters had to face. And this movie was a very dramatic, heartbroken, sad, action and adventure movie. One of the man things that made my heart stop was when one for the competers died. Her name was rue she was the youngest character in the movie. But i know that the author of the book created this character to add more feeling in this story. So far in the movie it worked.
I am reading the book right now. I'm not very far in but I will be soon. I'm not quite drawn into the book yet but I am positive that I will. The people that I have spoken to loved everything that had to do with the word Hunger Games, meaning the album, the pictures, the actors, the book, the movies etc. Just looking at the front page gets me so excited. But I have been busy with school work and outside school things that I haven't really been able to read for a long period of time.
In conclusion the movie was very good and the book is getting their. I hope next week I am less busy so that I can read the book for over an hour. I also hope that since I watched the movie won't ruin imaging the book since they're completely different.

Hunger Games Read or Not?

Like Said in my previous article (The one below) the hunger games is everywhere on itunes, in the movies, on shirts, on books, on Facebook, and in peoples' conversations. I never read the book I heard about it but I have one problem. I'm seeing the movie on Tuesday and I don't know if i should read the book now or later?
If I read it now it would be good an interesting because I'm not reading any book at the moment. But what about time? I'm not like some children that can read 12345 pages in like 2mins (Hyperbole alert!) I read very slow and I don't think I will have time to finish it. I am seeing the movie in 2 days! But I think it would be good to start it and understand at least the beginning of the book before the movie.
If I read the book after the movie I would have all the time in the world (Hyperbole alert!) to read the book. But one problem.. I  cannot read books after watching the movie it messes with my mind and confuses me constantly. Not only because it ruins the exciting parts because I would know what happens. But the way I image what happens, when I read books I like to imagine everything that happens but if I had seen the movie and then read the book I would try to image it different as i read the book and My mind would keep thinking about the movie. And most people know that movies and books are different in many ways.
In conclusion I will read the book after the movie because I will have more time. And hopefully during my journey of reading the whole series I will try to over come my "Reading after movie dyslexia"

Hunger Games

Hunger Games as you should no is one of the most popular book and movies and the movie didn't even come out yet! I feel like the hunger games is going to be a popular book and a very popular movie such as (Harry Potter, Twilight etc.) I just can tell by everyone who is talking about it I am just very positive that it's not going to be a popular book but have a bad  movie or the other way around.
You can say I read tiny parts of the hunger games but not the whole series. Me and series don't go together well. The only series I have finished with out skipping pages, stop reading or just changed to the next book is the Percy Jackson series witch was a Great first movie and an amazing series. I'm not sure what is wrong with me but I think the fact that its so much books to read scares me and makes me not want to read it.
I have read only 1 page of the hunger games. Lots of people think I'm a freak for doing that. Everyone always asks me "WHY DIDN'T ATLEAST READ THE FIRST ONE IT'S SOOO GOOOD" and I'm just like yeahhh I know but really I don't mean "YEAH I KNOW" I really mean because I'm to lazy I rather watch the movie oh yeah and I have a fear of books. and then I joke around and say I have bibliophobia (The fear of books.
All the time I wait for the movie to come out and I watch it if i love the movie then I read the books. But that's not a very smart idea because it really and truly confuses me it like messes with my mind and makes me lost in the book. For an example say theirs a part in the book that the movie cuts off and when I read the book I will try to imagine how it was in the movie and can't find it then it makes me feel like i am not paying attention that well and forces me to reread the book or just give up.

Romeo & Juliet (Why did they meet in the first place?)

I actually love the story of Romeo and Juliet. The tragedy is so intense its kind of unbearable to take it. But as we read this story many many times and read scene and scene and watched the two different movies I had realized something. Roselyn is the man reason all the tragedy had happened. Romeo was "IN LOVE" with her she wasn't she wanted to become a nun. Nuns cannot marry or love anyone. Which means Romeo just got rejected like that.
Romeo's friend forced him to go to the party so that he can find a girl and won't be depressed forever about Roselyn. The party is how Romeo and Juliet met. And they had 1 night of sweet love but then after that their sweet love turns into a tragic fight. I guess you can also say that it was Romeo's friends fault because he convinced romeo to go to the party. But only because Roselyn "broke his heart". I will just say both of them. But it's not only a bad thing that they cause the death of mercutio, benvolio, romeo and Juliet. They were the ones that actually cause the BIG HELP. Which is the fights which made the story so good.

New book, New cover

So lately i have been going crazy looking for a new book. I'm not sure what i am looking for.. I guess like a kind of scary mystery or like a teenage below the influence story. I checked my on library at home I have checked my  ELA teachers library but not yet checked the School or Public library. Soon I'm going to check both and I am hoping that I will come back with good results.
I want to read a scary mystery so that i can get drown into the story. I read many books and most of them never drew me into the book (Drew meaning got me so happy to read the next page, making me always think about the book and changes my emotions even though i know its not a true story). Around 5th grade I figured out that scary mysteries are one of the books that make me get drawn into the story. Teenagers below the influence is also one of the books that get me drawn.
I'm not really sure why below the influence books is a genre of books would like to read so that i can get drawn into the story. I guess because all the drama. But the strange thing is i haven't read a below the influence book. But many of my friend have and they would always tell me about it and it sounds beyond interesting! at the same time it sounds to intense and scary which i am in the mood for.
There fore i really really really want to find a scary mystery and a below the influence story so that i can get drawn into the story and wont get bored at reading boring story lines. I really hope i find at least one of those two genres. If not I will be sad. If i find one of of two I will be happy! if I find two out of the two genres I'm going to have to learn out to read to books at once!

Why I want to reread You Don't Know Me

You Don't Know Me by David Klass, There so many reasons that I would like to reread this story. I wanted to reread this story from the start of this school year. I just couldn't find it i asked my last year Ela teacher she said someone had it already I looked in the library of my current Ela class no luck. Although i have many reasons of wanting to read this book i can only remember 3 and those 3 are.
One reason that i want to read this book is because I need to refresh and restart what happened in that epic story. I personally think that when i reread it helps me find more details and help me understand the settings, characters and conflicts. Rereading also helps me write more essays about the story. I reread almost all my books and it really does help me to understand more about the story and even help me right a more interesting, bold blog post.
The second reason i want to reread this story is because how drama filled the story was. I loovvvvve stories with so much drama and sadness. It makes me my emotions change rapidly. The more the drama the more i put myself in that situation, the more i put my self in the situation makes me feel bad for the character. But sometimes feeling for the character makes me feel terrible because of how easy i have and how hard they have it.
The last reason i want to reread the story is because it is a true story. I'm not sure why but when it comes to an interesting true story i will not hesitate to read it. Although memoirs can get very boring but this memoir never did! Well at least I did not remember any boring parts.
Therefore Rereading is a good way to understand more about the character, setting and conflict. These three reasons are the main reasons i would like to read You Don't Know Me by David Klass. I hope that i can find the book. I also hope that i will learn lots and more of what is in this story.

I have read I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore. There was a couple sentences that had lots of information but the one that was the most packed was on page 165 paragraph 1. "The First SnowFall comes two weeks later A slight dusting, just enough to cover the truck with a fine powder... we've worked everyday without fail, through the cold weather and the rain and now the snow." I feel like this sentence tells me alot about the Setting, the main character and Four.
The reason i feel that this loaded sentence was a beautiful way to explain the is because its very poetic. It explains the snow in a bright, calm, white, cold. When other books explain the setting its usually like: One morning in a hot day in the kitchen (BORINGGG). The way Pittacus Lore explains this setting is amazing it makes me actually feel what they feel and imagine my self where they are.It makes me want to bottle up this sentence in a jar and listen to it on and on and on like a new pop song.
The reason that i feel like this is a loaded sentence because it explains four.  Four is a very teenage character which makes me and other people that are in the range of 10-15 relate to him, One thing we all have in common is we love snow! Four is not a person who has seen alot of snow. All the places he had moved to were hot dry places and this is his first experience with snow. What i think Pittacus is trying to do is make that sentence packed with beautiful, poetic words but at the same time make it a description that a teenager would say.
Therefore the loaded sentence above^^ (In the blue) is a packed sentence that describes alot about the setting and the main character Four. The poetic and explanatory words describes the setting clearly and beautifully. The teenage like words and feeling helps me know that its Four who is seeing look at it and describing the winter snow. Honestly this is the most interesting sentence in the book. I feel like i have to reread the book for the second time to refresh and and find more details and interesting parts that i can write more about on my blogposts! :)

I have read Riley W's Blogpost called "What it is about Mr.Potter". This blogpost was about the book Harry potter. I have never read any read any Harry potter book but from reading Riley's post i felt that the series sounds very very interesting. I might even pick up a Harry potter when i'm finished with my book!
What i liked about this post was that Riley was how fun he made it. He joked around and he made it seem like he was having fun while typing the post. What i didn't like about Riley's post is he connected to his life to much. It was all Riley and no potter. I wished he just explained the story a little. I wish this because it would have helped me understand the book more and maybe even like it better.
I have never read any other post by Riley but from reading this i might just read all of them! This post reminded me of the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I'm not sure why it reminded me of that book but i was thinking that its because there these books are similar in a way. Both have to do with a boy that has magical powers, Need to save the world Blah, blah, blah that kind of stuff. What it also reminded me of was the movie harry potter. Which made me feel stupid because i have seen all the movies but not the books.
Riley's post about the book harry potter was engaging. I liked it. The post made me want to read the harry potter series and i might read it soon. There was some parts in the post i did not like and there were some parts that i did like. Most of the parts i did like, I liked the way it was written, I liked the way he connected the book with him self and i liked the way he mentioned our school. What i didn't like was he did not explain the story line of Harry Potter which i wanted to learn about.
