Random talk about the blizzard of 1888

I’m not sure why I picked this natural disaster. Your probably thinking why out of
all the big blizzards, earthquakes, tornados, why did I picked a silly old blizzard in
the states? It was the one that stood out to me. I heard about Katrina, The
earthquake in Japan and many more but The Blizzard of 1888 just kept ringing in
my ear, the one that was interesting, something I wanted to know way more
about.
The blizzard didn’t only hit New York. It hit New Jersey, Connecticut,
Massachusetts and also Canada. Snow fall reached up to 30- 50 inches! Wind
reached up to 40 mph. Poor families would try to find any warm place to stay such
as steam grates and coal cellars, Or if they had a little bit of money they could
have paid 3 cents for a warm spot in a store for the night. Around 400 people lost
their lives in this blizzard (In New York 200 people were killed).
I created a 6 year old white short poor boy who lives in Manhattan in 1888, Who
has recently discovered he has a wealthy family in Brooklyn. Getting their for the
boy is not so easy. Although Charlie is a made up character he faces real problems
that happened in the Blizzard of 1888.
The story that I created was as interesting as researching about the Great
Blizzard. No matter how Big or small well known or unknown their still a disaster
that scared many people for life, And can be very interesting to others.
